About Us

Parkstone School of Traditional Karate was founded in 1994 by Sensei Andy Barber. Its aim is to teach and preserve traditional Okinawan Goju-Ryu karate.

Monday

6:30 pm - 7:30 pm Juniors (5yrs - 11yrs)

7:30 pm -  9:00 pm Adults and Cadets (11yrs and over)

Wednesday

6:00 pm - 7:00 pm Juniors (Beginner to Blue belt)

7:00 pm - 8:00 pm Juniors (Purple to Black belt)

8:00 pm - 9:30 pm Adults and Cadets

Sensei Andy Barber - Instructor

  • 1983 – 1987 studied traditional Aikido with Sensei Paul McGlone.
  • 1985, began training with Sensei Ernie Molyneux (7th Dan IOGKF) at the Lincoln Road Dojo, Bournemouth.
  • 1990 - Graded Shodan (1st Dan)
  • 1993 - Graded Nidan    (2nd Dan)
  • 1994 - Opened the Parkstone Dojo
  • 1998 - Graded Sandan (3rd Dan)
  • 2003 - Graded Yondan (4th Dan
  • 2009 - Graded Godan (5th Dan)

  • 2004 Began training at Parkstone School of Traditional Karate
  • 2005 Graded to Shodan (1st Dan)
  • 2007 Graded to Nidan    (2nd Dan)
  • 2010 Graded to Sandan (3rd Dan)

Sensei Andy Armstrong-Brodie - Assistant Instructor

  • 2005 Began training at Parkstone School of Traditional Karate (his son was a student at the school)
  • 2009 Graded to Shodan (1st Dan)
